"Affluent Consumers in a Digital World" found that 41 percent of viewers will take an action after watching video advertising - Data from the August 2011 Internet Advertising Bureau's (IAB)

In April 2011, 32.6 million UK online video viewers watched a total of 5.4 billion online videos, of which 238.4 million were ads.



Last year Online video views from U.K. users grew 37 percent in 12 months, according to data from comScore. The measurement firm estimates users streamed a total of 5.5 billion videos in February 2010, up from around 4 billion in February 2009.



The  Internet Consumption trends increasingly shown that Online video viewers’ attitudes of TV are changing. Today, 66% of online video viewers watch more online video now than they did a year ago. Among online video viewers 35% claim that online video has cut into their TV viewing. Perhaps most importantly to marketers, consumers skip more ads when watching TV than when watching online video. Sites like Hulu and YouTube engage users more  as compared to TV.



68% of people who watch online videos, will in turn, pass links for these videos onto their friends…turning them into viral traffic machines.



People watching video on the net has grown steadily by 20% ever year for the past 5 years.



Companies looking to capitalise on this should start investing in web video production as soon as possible.



The study shows clearly that not only are people watching more TV online, they are still continuing the engage with and watch video advertising as their preferred medium over text and image alone.
